Plan the panel

Specify the sign and the setting.

Size, artwork, exposure and fixing all affect the result. Use these points to prepare a useful brief.

Size, shape and artwork

Start with the finished width and height of each panel, the number required and any different artwork versions. Mark holes, corner radii, folded edges and cut-out shapes on the drawing. See our artwork specifications before supplying production files.

Printing, lamination and panel finish

Full-colour printing suits branded panels and photographic graphics. Choose matte or gloss lamination according to the location and appearance; ask about anti-graffiti protection where needed. Brushed ACM is a separate metallic-finish option. Confirm colour and finish with the team when matching an existing sign.

Joined panels, access and installation

Large signs may use multiple panels, so seams and artwork placement should be planned together. Send a wide site photo, a close-up of the mounting surface and the approximate height. Oversized transport, elevated access and landlord or council approvals need assessment before scheduling.

Common questions

Before you order your panels.

What is aluminium composite panel?

ACM combines aluminium surface layers with a lightweight core. For signage, it provides a rigid, flat surface for printed graphics, applied vinyl or cut shapes. This page covers signage panels; building cladding specifications need separate project assessment.

What sizes and thicknesses are available?

Our standard signage panel is 3mm thick, with a full sheet size of 2440 × 1220mm. Custom sizes can be cut within that sheet. Oversized panels up to 3000 × 1500mm require a project quote; oversized-panel delivery is limited to Sydney Metro. Larger signs can be planned as joined panels.

Can ACM be cut to shape, rounded or drilled?

Yes. CNC routing can produce shaped panels, rounded corners, fixing holes and cut-out lettering or logos. V-grooving for folded panels can also be quoted. Send the artwork and fixing requirements so we can check the shape, detail and panel layout before production.

Which printing and colour options can I choose?

White ACM supports full-colour UV direct printing. Black, brushed and other panel finishes are also available subject to stock. Applied vinyl can be used for finishes such as metallic or fluorescent graphics. Oversized panels are quoted with their production method confirmed separately.

Do the panels need lamination?

Matte and gloss lamination are available and are recommended for printed outdoor panels. Unlaminated printing may suit indoor or shorter-term use. Tell us the location and exposure so the print and protective finish can be specified together.

Can you apply anti-graffiti protection?

Gloss anti-graffiti lamination can be specified for signs exposed to vandalism. Include this in your brief so the team can allow for the protective finish and advise on cleaning.

How long will outdoor signage last?

The laminated outdoor specification gives an indicative 4–5 year service life. Actual durability depends on sun exposure, placement, surface finish and maintenance. We will confirm the appropriate material and finish for the intended application; this is not a blanket lifespan guarantee.

Can you organise installation?

Yes. Installation is carried out through our team and a network of sign contractors, with the location, access and fixing surface assessed for each project. Include site photos, the postcode and approximate installation height. Landlord, council or other approvals may be needed before installation.

How are panels fixed in place?

Depending on the sign and surface, options include screws, suitable adhesives, frames or stand-offs. The fixing method needs to account for panel size, exposure, access and the mounting surface. Send photos so we can advise; do not select a fixing method from a photograph alone.

What affects price and turnaround?

Dimensions, panel count, artwork versions, finish, cutting and installation all affect the quote. Standard-print guidance is 1–3 days after artwork approval, with 5–7 days for more complex work; confirm current scheduling before planning an opening or installation. Freight and installation are separate from production time.

Can I order printed panels online?

Yes. Use the ACM signs product page for supported printed panel configurations, or the brushed ACM product page for a metallic finish. For oversized panels, folded shapes, complex fixing requirements or installation, send a project enquiry so the scope can be checked.
