Alexandria project · Illuminated shopfront package

Two lit blades, a set of fabricated letters and a printed window.

HALI's Alexandria showroom needed a shopfront that reads from the footpath and along the street in both directions. The package pulls together two double-sided LED blade signs, a run of fabricated metal facade letters and a printed window campaign — each surveyed, built in our own workshop and installed to the existing brickwork and glazing.

The round blade, reading both ways

The double-sided round light box carries HALI's H monogram on opal acrylic faces in a black powder-coated frame, projecting from the wall so the mark reads along the street from either direction.

The project in detail

Six photographs across the finished Alexandria shopfront and the workshop build — the fabricated letters and window campaign in place, both LED blade signs on the street, a mounting detail, and the light boxes coming together before install.

Photographs are of HALI's own signage. Incidental brand names in the background — a neighbouring business and a workshop printer — belong to third parties, not to this project.

Project at a glance

Two blade signs, a set of letters and a printed window.

This was one shopfront with three distinct pieces of work in it. Each element sits on a different surface, carries a different part of the brand and has its own fixing and finish decisions.

Two illuminated blades

A round double-sided light box carrying the H monogram and a rectangular double-sided light box carrying the HALI wordmark, both projecting from the wall so they read along the footpath rather than only face-on.

Fabricated facade letters

The HALI name sits across the brick facade as individual fabricated metal letters in a black texture finish, held off the wall on welded pins so daylight throws a soft shadow behind each letter.

A printed window campaign

Ultra-clear printed vinyl turns the shop glazing into a repeating SALE graphic, applied across the window bays so the promotion carries at a distance without hiding the interior completely.

How it came together

Measure the brick and the glass, then build to what is there.

A heritage brick facade and a run of shopfront glazing set the constraints before anything is drawn: the brick courses, the window bays and the sightlines along the street are all fixed. The job worked from a site survey through approved artwork to a staged install.

Read the four delivery stages
  1. 1

    Survey the facade

The brickwork, the window bays and the approach angles along the street were measured and photographed so the letter run, the blade positions and the window graphics could be set to the real facade rather than to a drawing.

  2. 2

    Approve the artwork

The H monogram, the HALI wordmark and the window campaign were mocked up against the facade and signed off before any material was cut, so the brand lock-up and the sign positions were agreed together.

  3. 3

    Build it in our workshop

The letters were cut and finished in a black texture, the two light boxes were assembled with opal acrylic faces in powder-coated frames and internal LED, and the window graphic was printed on ultra-clear vinyl — all built in our own workshop.

  4. 4

    Install to brick and glass

The blade signs were bracket-fixed into the brickwork, the fabricated letters were set out and pinned off the wall, and the printed vinyl was applied to the glazing on site.

Project anatomy

Illuminated blades, fabricated letters and a printed window.

A shopfront package like this pulls three material decisions together — a lit blade that reads at night, letters that carry the name in daylight, and a printed film that turns the glass into a campaign.

Material decision

Why a double-sided light box for the blades?

A projecting blade only earns its position if it reads to pedestrians approaching from both directions. Building each blade as a double-sided LED box with opal acrylic faces means the mark is even and legible from either side by day and lit by night, rather than a flat panel that disappears edge-on.

Blade size, projection off the wall and bracket detail should be set against each facade and the local awning and footpath clearances rather than carried across from this project.

Pricing context

What shapes the price of an illuminated shopfront package?

Packages like this are quoted line by line against the surveyed facade. We explain the cost drivers without publishing HALI's commercial terms.

  • Number of illuminated blades and whether they are single or double sided
  • Letter size, depth and finish, and how they are fixed to the facade
  • Printed window area, film type and how much of the glazing is covered
  • Facade access, working at height and the number of separate site visits

Send photographs of the facade and glazing, approximate dimensions and vector artwork for a current indication. Final pricing follows the confirmed survey.

Sydney proof · National capability

One Alexandria shopfront, repeatable across a retail network.

This case study documents a single HALI shopfront in Alexandria, Sydney. For a retailer running several showrooms, Platinum Signs can hold one approved sign and finish standard across the network while surveying each facade for brick type, awning and footpath clearances, blade sightlines and install access.

  • One approved blade, letter and window standard
  • Facade-by-facade survey of brickwork and glazing
  • Coordinated production, staging and installation

Prepare a useful brief

What to send for a shopfront signage package.

A clear first brief lets the team assess sign type, finish, fixing and install sequencing before confirming scope and price.

Read the four-point quoting checklist
  1. 1

    Photographs of the facade

Include the full shopfront, the brickwork or render, the awning and the window bays, with enough context to see the approach angles from the street.

  2. 2

    Signs and sizes

Note which elements you want — blade signs, facade letters, window graphics — and any approximate sizes or positions you already have in mind.

  3. 3

    Vector artwork

Supply the approved logo files, brand colours and any guidance on lock-ups, spacing or minimum sizes.

  4. 4

    Access and timing

Confirm footpath and awning access, working-at-height requirements, permitted install hours and whether any existing signage must come down first.
