Description
Type A corrosive substances—acids, alkalis, and oxidisers causing severe skin burns and eye damage—require immediate hazard recognition. This danger sign meets AS 1319 with its red header and white text, marking chemical storage, handling areas, and transfer points. Corrosive environments demand robust substrates: Colorbond steel excels in chemical splash zones, polypropylene resists many industrial acids and bases, vinyl suits temporary labelling, and corflute works for indoor storage rooms. Four sizes from 225×300 mm to 600×900 mm. Lamination strongly recommended for chemical areas. Reflective upgrades, pre-drilled holes, and trade bulk pricing all available. Fast delivery across Australia.
Final sign type, wording, size, placement and material depend on the site risk, project specification and applicable jurisdiction. Confirm the requirement with the relevant WHS adviser or regulator.

Available materials
| Material | Specification |
|---|---|
| Corflute (5mm) | Lightweight corrugated plastic board. Easy to fix to fences, hoarding, and temporary structures. Indicative service life: Temporary use; exposure and installation affect service life. Typical use: Construction sites, temporary signage, events. |
| Polypropylene (1.6mm) | Rigid plastic sheet suited to indoor and sheltered or general outdoor applications, subject to the print finish and site exposure. Indicative service life: Medium-term use; site conditions apply. Typical use: Warehouses, factories, permanent indoor/outdoor. |
| Colorbond Steel (0.6mm) | Rigid coated sheet steel suited to demanding indoor and outdoor installations. Print life depends on finish, exposure, edges and mounting. Indicative service life: Long-term substrate; print and site conditions apply. Typical use: Permanent installations, harsh environments. |
| Self-Adhesive Vinyl (Sticker) | Peel-and-stick vinyl for smooth surfaces. Walls, doors, machinery, and equipment labelling. Indicative service life: Short- to medium-term use; surface and exposure affect service life. Typical use: Indoor walls, equipment labels, smooth surfaces. |

Frequently asked
What's the difference between Type A and Type B corrosive signs?
Type A covers substances causing severe skin burns and serious eye damage (e.g. concentrated acids, strong alkalis). Type B covers less severe corrosives. Consult your chemical inventory and safety data sheets to confirm the correct type.
Is lamination essential for corrosive chemical areas?
Highly recommended. Lamination protects the print from chemical splashes, vapours, and accidental spills, extending sign life significantly in aggressive environments.
Can polypropylene withstand exposure to all corrosive chemicals?
Polypropylene resists many acids and alkalis but not all solvents or oxidisers. For unknown or mixed chemical storage, Colorbond steel with lamination is the safest choice.
Should I use reflective material in a chemical storage room?
Reflective grades provide different visibility performance. Choose the grade required by the project specification and site conditions, and confirm any road, traffic or high-risk requirement with the relevant authority before ordering.
How do I position the sign near chemical transfer equipment?
Place the sign at eye level (1.5 m) directly adjacent to the hazard—typically on or near the chemical container, transfer pump, or fume hood. Ensure it's visible before anyone approaches the equipment.
Do you offer custom chemical-specific text (e.g. 'Hydrochloric Acid')?
Custom text is available for trade orders of 10+ units. Provide the chemical name or hazard descriptor and we'll incorporate it into the design.
