Description
Type B hazardous substances signs identify restricted-access chemical or toxic material zones where only trained personnel are authorised. This AS 1319 danger sign uses the distinctive red header and white text to communicate the highest level of hazard in laboratories, manufacturing plants, and storage facilities handling dangerous goods. Produced in corflute, polypropylene, Colorbond steel, and vinyl, sized from 225×300 mm to 600×900 mm. Customise with pre-drilled holes, lamination, or Class 1 and Class 2 reflective coatings for outdoor durability. Trade and bulk orders attract volume savings; we deliver nationwide.
Final sign type, wording, size, placement and material depend on the site risk, project specification and applicable jurisdiction. Confirm the requirement with the relevant WHS adviser or regulator.

Frequently asked
What makes Type B different from Type A for hazardous substances?
Type A applies to general hazardous substance areas with standard procedures. Type B marks restricted zones where only trained, authorised personnel may enter or handle materials.
Should I use reflective finishes for indoor chemical storage?
Reflective grades provide different visibility performance. Choose the grade required by the project specification and site conditions, and confirm any road, traffic or high-risk requirement with the relevant authority before ordering.
How do I ensure signs remain visible in harsh chemical environments?
Choose Colorbond steel with lamination for maximum resistance to chemical splash and fumes. Polypropylene also resists most solvents; confirm compatibility with your specific substances.
Are signs rated for use in explosive atmospheres?
Standard signs are not rated for ATEX explosive zones. If you work in a classified explosive atmosphere, contact us—we can source specialist signage.
What is the cost difference between materials?
Corflute is most economical; polypropylene costs slightly more; vinyl is mid-range; Colorbond steel is premium but lasts longest. Request a quote for your size and material preference.
