Product details
Identify the installed fire blanket
Place the sign at, above or immediately beside the fire blanket it identifies. Confirm that the equipment is actually present at that point and keep the complete pictogram and FIRE BLANKET legend visible on the normal approach.
Choose the material and readable size
Polypropylene is the default rigid material for routine indoor and general site use. Vinyl suits a prepared smooth surface, Corflute suits temporary placement, and Colorbond steel provides a stronger mechanically fixed face. Choose 225 × 300 mm for close-range identification, 300 × 450 mm for greater prominence, or 450 × 600 mm for larger or visually busy approaches.
Keep directions and instructions separate
The approved artwork has no arrow and is not a set of operating instructions. Use it to identify the fire-blanket location. Where the equipment cannot be seen from a decision point, add directional signs only after confirming the actual route; provide equipment instructions and emergency training separately.
The sign is not the fire blanket
A location sign does not select, supply, install, inspect, maintain or certify the fire blanket and does not confirm that the equipment is suitable or ready for a particular emergency. Keep the sign aligned with the installed equipment, product instructions and the site's current fire-safety arrangements.
Check the sign format before ordering
This printed sign identifies a fire blanket location. It does not select, include, install, inspect, maintain or certify the equipment and does not replace product instructions, emergency planning or staff training. Confirm the site-specific equipment, placement and applicable requirements before ordering.
- Standards Australia – AS 2444:2001 Portable fire extinguishers and fire blankets — Selection and location — AS 2444 specifies criteria for selecting portable fire extinguishers and requirements concerning their application, location and distribution, and includes fire blankets in its scope. A printed location sign does not establish that the equipment selection or location satisfies the applicable requirements. - Safe Work Australia – Emergency plans and procedures — Workplace emergency plans can include maps showing fire-protection equipment and must address response procedures, information, training and testing. A location sign is one communication aid within those broader arrangements. Before ordering
- Confirm that a fire blanket is installed at the location the sign will identify.
- Check that the exact person, blanket and fire pictogram with FIRE BLANKET legend matches the required site message.
- Choose the material and portrait size for the mounting surface, exposure and normal approach.
- Add separately verified directional signs if the equipment cannot be seen from route decision points.
- Confirm equipment selection, access, instructions, training, inspection and site fire-safety requirements separately from the sign order.

Frequently asked questions
What is printed on this Fire Blanket sign?
The approved portrait artwork has a red field, a white-and-black pictogram showing a person placing a blanket over a fire, and the exact legend FIRE BLANKET. It contains no directional arrow.
Does the sign include a fire blanket or fire-safety service?
No. This product is the printed location sign only. It does not include a fire blanket, cabinet, mounting enclosure, installation, inspection, maintenance, replacement, training, certification or fire-safety service.
Where should the Fire Blanket sign be installed?
Install it at, above or immediately beside the fire blanket it identifies, where the complete face can be seen on the normal approach. Confirm the position with the site's fire-safety documentation and the competent person responsible for the equipment and workplace.
Can this sign direct people to a fire blanket around a corner?
Not by itself. The approved artwork has no arrow, so it identifies the equipment location rather than a route. Use separately verified directional signs at genuine decision points when the fire blanket cannot be seen from the approach.
Which material and size should I choose?
Polypropylene is the default rigid option for routine indoor and general site use. Vinyl suits a clean, smooth surface, Corflute suits temporary placement, and Colorbond steel provides a stronger mechanically fixed face. Choose 225 × 300 mm for close-range identification, 300 × 450 mm for a more prominent approach, or 450 × 600 mm for larger or visually busy areas.
