Product details

Choose the exact instruction

The word DOUBLE is part of this design. Use this face where your workplace has specified double hearing protection, and retain the accompanying instructions about the equipment people must wear. If the instruction is simply to wear hearing protection, choose a sign with that wording instead. The two messages should not be treated as interchangeable.

Position the message before entry

Place the sign on the approach to the area covered by the instruction so workers and visitors can read it before entering. Consider each entrance people actually use, including doors and access gates. Keep the complete symbol and all four lines of wording visible when doors are open and equipment is in its normal position.

Make the equipment instructions clear

This sign communicates the requirement; it does not specify a hearing protector model, attenuation rating or fitting method. Keep the workplace equipment instructions available alongside the notice where appropriate. Match those instructions to the assessed noise exposure and the protective equipment selected for the task.

Plan the mounting position

Measure the clear supporting area before selecting a panel. Allow space for the whole border and message, without trimming or folding the face around fixtures. Check that neighbouring signs, stored materials and door hardware will not cover the wording. A particular drilling pattern or mounting accessory needs to be specified separately.

Keep noise controls and signs aligned

Safe Work Australia describes noise assessment and controls such as quieter equipment, barriers, reduced exposure and personal protective equipment. This notice supports communication of your chosen controls. Revisit its position and wording when equipment, access routes or the workplace instruction changes.

Order consistent replacement notices

Use PS-MAN004 to identify this exact design when arranging replacement signs. Retain the selected dimensions and material with your order details so replacements match. Count the relevant approaches before choosing a quantity, and check that the word DOUBLE belongs on every location included in the order.

Check the sign format before ordering

Use this notice to communicate the double hearing protection instruction selected for the area. Noise assessment, control measures and equipment selection sit alongside the sign.

  • Safe Work Australia — Noise: Managing risksThe guidance covers noise assessment and controls including quieter equipment, barriers, reduced exposure and personal protective equipment.
