Product details

Match the face to the site rule

Use this face only when the intended instruction is MOBILE PHONES PROHIBITED IN THIS AREA. Confirm whether the restriction covers phones only or other wireless devices, and whether it means no use, powered off, aeroplane mode or storage outside the boundary. Add a separate instruction when the exact rule needs more detail than the artwork provides.

Choose the material and portrait size

Polypropylene is the default rigid option. Vinyl suits a prepared smooth surface, Corflute suits temporary placement, and Colorbond steel provides a stronger mechanically fixed face. Choose 225 × 300 mm for close approaches, 300 × 450 mm for more prominence, or 450 × 600 mm for larger or visually busy approaches.

Mark the start of the restricted area

Place the sign at the normal decision point before the restricted room or zone, not after a person has entered it. Keep the complete prohibition symbol and legend unobstructed, check the view with doors and equipment in their usual positions, and repeat the sign at separate approaches where required.

Support the sign with the applicable controls

A prohibition sign is an administrative communication measure. Keep the site policy, induction, supervision and any access, equipment-separation, privacy or security controls current for the actual reason phones are restricted. The sign does not establish that every hospital, secure area or worksite needs the same rule.

Check the sign format before ordering

This sign communicates a defined site prohibition. It does not create a blanket legal ban, certify the area or prove that mobile phones will interfere with equipment. Confirm the site-specific policy, affected devices, boundary, permitted modes, exceptions and supporting controls before installation.

  • NSW Health — Use of Mobile Telephones and Wireless Communication DevicesNSW Health says areas where mobile or wireless device use is not permitted should be clearly marked and recommends site-specific policies, procedures and training within each facility. Read source (opens in a new tab)This guidance applies to the NSW public health system and does not establish a blanket restriction for every hospital or workplace.
  • Safe Work Australia — Control the risksSafe Work Australia places warning signs among administrative controls and notes that administrative controls rely on human behaviour and may need to be combined with more effective measures. Read source (opens in a new tab)Use the sign as one part of the controls selected for the actual site rule or risk; do not treat the face alone as sufficient control.

Before ordering

  • Confirm that the exact MOBILE PHONES PROHIBITED IN THIS AREA legend matches the approved site rule.
  • Define the boundary and identify every normal approach where the instruction must be seen before entry.
  • Confirm which devices, operating modes and emergency exceptions the restriction covers.
  • Choose polypropylene, vinyl, Corflute or Colorbond for the mounting surface and intended duration.
  • Choose a portrait size that remains clear from the normal approach and confirm the supporting policy and controls.

This is general product information, not legal or engineering advice. A safety sign is one part of a workplace control system; confirm the site and jurisdictional requirements before ordering.
