Confirm the warning required for this location

Check the wording with the person responsible for the electrical installation before choosing a face. HIGH VOLTAGE communicates the hazard, but does not add KEEP OUT, AUTHORISED PERSONNEL ONLY or a site-specific instruction. If the installation calls for a danger heading, an access restriction or different wording, order that exact design rather than treating the messages as interchangeable.

Make the warning visible on the approach

Consider where someone first needs to recognise the electrical hazard: at the approach to an enclosure, a controlled area or an equipment room. Review the view with doors and gates in their normal positions. Stored items and adjacent notices should not hide the triangle or wording. The responsible site person should select the position; the sign dimensions do not define a safe electrical approach distance.

Fit the face to the available space

The small vinyl face needs a suitable smooth, clean surface with enough room for the complete message. Rigid panels provide three larger formats for a wall, backing or holder. Compare both width and height against the clear mounting area, allowing space around labels, vents and operating controls. Use the viewing distance, lighting and any obstructions to compare the three rigid formats.

Choose the panel and fixing arrangement together

Polypropylene gives a lightweight rigid face; Colorbond provides a coated steel panel for mechanical fixing; Corflute is a lightweight fluted option for supported temporary placement. These are sign materials, not electrical protective barriers or insulation. Have installation arranged through authorised site personnel. Do not drill an electrical enclosure or enter a restricted area simply to fit the sign; the surface, access and fixing method need to be approved for that location.

Keep the warning separate from isolation controls

A sign remaining on a door says nothing about whether equipment is energised at that moment. SafeWork NSW guidance treats testing, isolation and access restrictions as separate electrical-work controls. Follow the workplace arrangements and instructions from the responsible electrical personnel. Keep the face readable as the site changes
