Product details
Choose the face for the mounting position
Use vinyl when you have a smooth, flat backing surface and want a compact adhesive warning. Choose polypropylene for a lightweight separate panel; Colorbond for a coated steel face and mechanical fixing; or 3mm Corflute for a supported temporary warning. The rigid formats provide more room for the warning where a small label would be lost among surrounding equipment. Measure the mounting area and check the view from the normal approach before selecting a size. There is no universal viewing-distance promise for these formats.
Keep the sign clear of the heat source
These standard selections do not have a published service-temperature rating for the complete printed sign, adhesive or finish. A metal substrate alone does not establish that the print will tolerate direct heat. Position the warning on a suitable support away from the heated surface. For direct equipment mounting, tell us the operating temperature, substrate and cleaning conditions so we can specify the sign and fixing method together. This also helps identify whether an adhesive label or a mechanically fixed panel is appropriate.
Make the warning visible before contact
Check the approach used by operators, cleaners and maintenance staff. Mount the sign where the warning can be read before someone reaches the identified hot part. Additional approaches may need another sign if the first face cannot be seen. Keep the wording and symbol unobstructed and leave controls, operating instructions and inspection points accessible. Choose a holder or suitable fixings for the panel and support. Contact us if you need a particular hole pattern or mounting hardware; these are not selectable in the standard order.
Use the warning alongside physical safeguards
SafeWork NSW advises guarding or insulating heated plant parts where they could cause injury. Safe Work Australia’s food-services guidance includes guards around hot surfaces and warning signs for hot equipment, surfaces and substances. This sign communicates the warning; it does not provide a physical barrier or establish when equipment is safe to touch. Keep the equipment’s risk controls and operating procedures in place. A steam, hot-liquid or other hazard may need a different or additional message.
Inspect and replace signs when conditions change
Check the warning after equipment moves, a guard changes or a new approach is introduced. Replace a sign if the legend fades, the face cracks, the adhesive lifts or the mounting no longer holds it securely. Remove obsolete warnings when the identified hazard no longer exists. For repeat orders, keep the PS-WAR024 product code together with the chosen size, material and quantity so replacements match the intended location.
Check the sign format before ordering
Use this general contact-heat warning as part of the equipment’s risk controls. It does not state a safe-touch temperature or certify the plant or installation.
- SafeWork NSW — Plant, machinery and equipment — The machine-guarding guidance calls for pipes and other plant parts subject to heat or cold to be guarded or insulated where there is a risk of injury. Read source (opens in a new tab)NSW plant guidance; this is not certification of the sign or an individual installation.
- Safe Work Australia — Food services: managing risks — The guidance identifies hot surfaces as a hazard and includes guards and warning signs among the measures for managing heat-related risks. Read source (opens in a new tab)National industry guidance; apply the controls appropriate to the equipment, task and jurisdiction.

Material options
A lightweight rigid panel for a wall, enclosure or sign holder near the equipment. Available in 225 × 300 mm and 400 × 600 mm.
Mounting: Use a holder or suitable fixings on a support away from the heated surface. Keep the warning visible and clear of controls and instructions.
A 0.6mm coated steel face for a mechanically fixed warning. Available in 225 × 300 mm and 400 × 600 mm.
Mounting: Allow for the panel weight and use hardware suited to the support. Metal construction does not establish a temperature rating for the printed sign.
A lightweight 3mm fluted panel for temporary warnings or changing work areas. Available in 225 × 300 mm and 400 × 600 mm.
Mounting: Secure to a supporting surface without crushing the flutes. Keep it away from heat and protect it from impacts.
A 180 × 240 mm adhesive warning for a clean, smooth, flat backing surface. Sold individually; it needs a supporting surface.
Mounting: Apply to a clean, dry backing away from the heat source. Do not apply directly to hot equipment without a confirmed temperature specification for the adhesive and printed face.
These selections have no published service-temperature rating. For direct equipment mounting, high heat, outdoor exposure or frequent chemical cleaning, contact us with the conditions so we can specify the sign and fixing method together.

Frequently asked questions
What does this Hot Surface sign show?
The yellow-and-black face carries an exclamation-mark warning triangle and the words HOT SURFACE. This is a general contact-heat warning: it gives no temperature, cooling time or equipment-specific instructions. The product code is PS-WAR024.
Where should I position the warning?
Choose a position people can see before reaching the hot equipment, including the usual operating and maintenance approaches. A nearby wall, guard or separate support may provide a clearer, cooler mounting surface. Keep the whole face visible without covering controls, instructions or inspection points.
Can I stick this sign directly onto hot equipment?
The standard choices do not have a published service-temperature rating for the complete printed sign. Use a suitable backing away from the heat source. For direct mounting onto heated equipment, send us the operating temperature and surface details so we can specify an appropriate sign and adhesive or fixing method.
Which sizes and materials can I buy?
Choose 180 × 240 mm self-adhesive vinyl, or 225 × 300 mm and 400 × 600 mm rigid signs in polypropylene, 0.6mm Colorbond steel or 3mm Corflute. Dimensions are width × height. Each selection is sold individually. Lamination and reflective upgrades are not offered for these standard options. Contact us if you need a particular hole pattern or mounting hardware; these are not selectable in the standard order.
Does a warning sign replace guarding or insulation?
No. SafeWork NSW identifies guarding or insulation for heated plant parts where injury is possible. Safe Work Australia also includes warning signs among supporting measures for hot equipment in food-service workplaces. Select the sign alongside the controls required for the actual equipment and task.
How do I order and when will it be dispatched?
Select the size, material and quantity, then pay securely online to confirm the order. The pictured artwork is included. Most standard safety-sign orders dispatch the next business day after payment. We deliver Australia-wide; courier transit is additional and the delivery charge is shown before payment. Contact us before ordering for a larger quantity or an essential arrival date.
What volume discounts apply?
Volume-pricing examples are 5 signs: 8% off, 10 signs: 15% off, 25 signs: 24% off, 50 signs: 32% off, 100 signs: 40% off. Savings increase gradually between these quantities. The total increases as you add more signs, while the average price per sign falls or stays the same. The configurator calculates the total for your selected quantity.
